Autumn in most parts of Australia runs from March to May and is a favourite season for many – the air is crisp, woodsy aroma fills the air, foliage is at its peak, the leaves change colour and cooler weather graces us.

Autumn is practically a mandate to indulge in the cosier side of life, and there's no shortage of fun activities to do at home or outdoors. From enjoying the simple pleasures of Mother Nature to planning the perfect fall outing, here’s a roundup of fun ideas to pack your weekends with your friends, family or even solo.

A Perfect Soup Recipe

Get cosy with a steaming bowl of warm, hearty (and healthy) soup. Head to the farmer’s markets and grab some of your favourite vegetables and make a delicious, creamy, homemade batch of soup. A hearty pumpkin soup is a nice companion to a crisp fall night, or alternatively, you can cosy up to a bowl of chicken noodle soup, french onion soup or the classic combination of grilled cheese and tomato soup.

Enjoy the Great Outdoors

Bushwalking, hiking or camping are great at this time of the year. Take advantage of the cooler temperatures to work up a sweat. Go hiking to a national park and enjoy spectacular views, fewer crowds, milder temperatures and mountain air. You can also plan an epic camping trip packed with stargazing, birdwatching and plenty of grilling, after the hike. Pack a picnic hamper or order one with us like our gourmet hampers (great for sharing).

Curl Up With a Good Book

Grab a blanket, slip on some fluffy socks, make a cup of tea, light a relaxing scented candle and hunker down with one of your favourite books or novels and enjoy a good read. One upside to the extra downtime in autumn is that you get more time to read.

Plant Fall Flowers

Celebrate the cooler weather by planting fall flowers that are sure to thrive during this season, such as pansies and the common daisy chrysanthemums. They’ll make your garden look colourful at its eye-catching best. You could also shop our exquisite Season’s Best Flower Collection that features only the best fresh and vibrant coloured blooms.
