Western Australia is home to the world’s largest collection of wildflowers, with 12,000 species on show, including pink Boronias, red and green Kangaroo Paw, magenta Paperbark Blossom, and orange flowering Banksias.
What makes the flowering landscape even more amazing is that 60% of Western Australian wildflowers are found nowhere else on Earth.
In WA you even get to enjoy the colourful blooms for six months of the year with the season beginning in June in the north and spreading down to the south coast to conclude in November.
The state is clearly the perfect place to soak up the beauty of flowers so we hunted down the top areas to do so near Perth!

The Botanic Garden showcases over 3,000 varieties of the State’s unique flora including many rare and threatened species. The area is also home to around 80 bird species and stunning city and river views.
Located 1.5 kilometres from the Central Business District of Perth, the Park is one of the most popular visitor attractions in Western Australia.
Head here in September to see the garden in full bloom and even catch the Annual Kings Park Festival with stunning floral displays, colourful exhibitions, live music, workshops, guided walks, and more.
Even bigger than Kings Park, Bold Park is comprised of near-coastal dunes and ridges offering a diverse flora range.
Over 1,000 species of flora and fauna have been identified in the Bold Park area meaning your chances of spotting lush wildflowers and vibrant natives are high.
The 7km return horse trail through the park bushland known as Bold Park Bridle Trail offers a rare opportunity to experience wilderness within Perth’s urban area.
Known as the richest wildflower location in Perth Metropolitan area, Ellis Brook Valley Reserve has over 500 species of wildflowers on show.
In both winter and spring, Ellis Brook cascades over a rock bar to form one of the few waterfalls in the south west.
You will spot beautiful views from the top of the waterfall but it is tough walking so you may settle on halfway, but you will be just as pleased with the scenery!
Only an hour drive from Perth within the Avon Valley, Chittering Valley is the perfect day trip for viewing an abundance of wildflower varieties.
Spring is the best time to enjoy the breathtaking scenery and in September you can also catch the annual Wildflower Festival.
There are many scenic drives and walking trails that meander through the hills of Chittering Valley and visitors will also enjoy fresh produce and wines, markets, orchards, sculptures, and locally made arts and crafts.
Located in Floreat, Reabold Hill is the highest natural point on the Swan Coastal Plain within the Metropolitan Perth area.
Sweeping views of ocean, river, and city will potentially distract you from the wildflower viewing but the Bottlebrush and Candle Cranberry are well worth tearing your eyes away from the view.
Take in the wonder of wildflowers and the Serpentine waterfalls as you wander through the national park which protects 4300ha of area home to a diverse range of flora and fauna.
The park is particularly beautiful in spring and along the Serpentine River you will see Wattle, Kangaroo Paws, Verticordia, Orchids and more.
The falls are a stunning sight but even more so from the top so venture further up if you can!
