Alice Springs Flowers

Alice Springs is the third largest town in the Northern Territory with a population of 28,605 or 12.2% of the Northern Territory's total population! Situated near the southern border of the Northern Territory, Alice Springs is the geographic centre of Australia. Just one kilometre’s drive from Australia’s most well-known natural attraction - Uluru, there are more reasons than one to get to know this incredible city!

Before European settlement, Alice Springs was inhabited by the Arrernte Aboriginal people. Known to the Arrernte people as Mparntwe (pronounced mbarn-twa), the town of Alice Springs was brought to life by the actions of several ancestral figures. Arrernte people continue to live in Alice Springs, observing cultural traditions and laws, as well as teaching younger generations the traditional Arrernte language, history and the importance of their culture.

Today, Alice Springs is the absolute heart of Central Australia. Famously described in the novel “A Town Like Alice” by Nevil Shute, this unique town has come a long way since its early days. Rich in history and culture, this iconic Australian town is a major tourist attraction for visitors to the Northern Territory. Travelling to Alice Springs provides a view of Australia that is different from anywhere else. If history is your interest, then you might like to know that Alice Springs is the home of many heritage listed sites, including the Alice Springs Telegraph Station, National Pioneer Women's Hall of Fame and the Royal Flying Doctor Service.

If you have a keen interest in animals then getting up close and personal with a variety of different animals at the Alice Springs Reptile Centre or Alice Springs Desert Park might be just the ticket! You could even take a Centre Bush Bus Tour to the Kangaroo Sanctuary. Hot air ballooning, helicopter rides, quad bike riding and camel rides are all experiences you can partake in when visiting Alice Springs.

Alice Springs has many of the facilities you would expect in any Australian capital city and more! Fancy yourself a shopaholic? Then don’t miss out on the Yeperenye Shopping Centre, The Gem Cave, Central Craft, Desert Dwellers, Workwear Alice Springs, Aboriginal Fabric Gallery and Red Rock Opal. If you’ve been searching for the perfect gift for someone special, then be sure to take a look at the camel milk products, painted jewellery, territory Jerky products (including camel!), and key rings from the Travel Gift Gallery.
