Since 1911, International Women’s Day has celebrated the economic, political and social achievements of women around the world. Each year on March 8 charities, educational institutions, women’s groups and the media, mark the day with campaigns and celebrations and Interflora is pleased to be part of the festivities.

It is customary on International Women’s Day to give the gift of flowers to women and in some countries, it is observed with as much attention as Mother's Day! To encourage this floral gift giving tradition, Interflora has created a range of International Women’s Day flowers designed to celebrate women on this very special occasion. Tulips and roses are popularly gifted around the world on IWD but colours are also very important. In 1908, the Women's Social and Political Union in Great Britain nominated the colours purple, white and green, to symbolise the plight of the Suffragettes. While purple came to symbolise justice and dignity (two values closely associated with women's equality), the three colours were used across different paraphernalia to show solidarity.

In honour of International Women’s, Interfora have created a limited edition bouquet Bella, a mixed bouquet featuring purple and green, the colours of women’s equality. The bright purple sim carnations stand out to signify the international colour for women, justice and dignity. The bouquet also features bright cerise roses, pale pink alstroemeria and pink daisy chrysanthemum. The flowers stand tall against the lime chrysanthemum disbud, and eucalyptus as a symbol of hope and support for woman to be proud and stand tall.

Support your woman with a bright, uplifting bouquet like Bella. Our large network of expert florists allows us to send flowers and gifts overseas and throughout Australia including the major capital cities including Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane and Perth.
